Weather expert Jamil Al-Hajj expects temperatures tonight and tomorrow, Tuesday, December 16, 2025, to drop by two to three degrees.

Al-Hajj said in a message on his Facebook account that temperatures would rise again by two degrees on Wednesday.

He added that the start of a cold snap is expected to begin Thursday evening, with temperatures beginning to drop significantly.

The cold is expected to intensify from Friday evening in large areas of Yemen, notably in the governorates of Al-Mahra and Hadhramaut in the east.

He also indicated the possibility of frosts next Saturday evening if the sky is clear and the winds calm, in some areas of Hadhramawt, Al-Mahra and Shabwa, pending the entry of a dry air mass which will reduce the humidity level.

Freeze

Al-Hajj expects a decrease in condensation and humidity levels next Sunday evening, which will lead to further intensification of cold weather in some areas of the deserts, plateaus and valleys of Hadhramawt, Al-Mahra and parts of Shabwa, and may extend to the east and south of Al-Bayda governorate and Marib.

He highlighted the possibility of frosts in Shabwa, Hadhramaut and Al-Mahra on Saturday and Sunday.

In the western highlands, plateaus and basins, it said monitoring for frost-causing factors will begin next Sunday and Monday, and frost could begin at dawn on Monday, or be delayed until dawn on Tuesday or Wednesday, if other weather factors are present.

Rain

Al-Hajj expects rain to fall tonight or Tuesday morning over northwest Yemen, particularly on the coasts of Hajjah and Hodeidah governorates, and possibly on the northern and western coasts of Saada.

He pointed out that clouds will begin to spread from tomorrow Tuesday, with the possibility of light rains falling over various areas, which are expected to expand later to include the eastern and southern coasts and southwest of Yemen, as well as along the highlands adjacent to Tihama. Rainfall may be light to moderate, and possibly heavy in some areas, particularly in southwest Yemen, the eastern and southern coastal highlands, as well as some areas of Tihama and adjacent highlands, while it will be light to moderate in the Socotra archipelago.

Al-Hajj warned that rain forecasts could change and vary depending on fluctuations in weather conditions.
